We are trialling some tweaks to our Sunday service.
From the first Sunday in October to the end of Dec you may notice a few changes in the way we are led in worship on Sundays. We are looking at streamlining our services by reducing the number of people who will get up and say something in the service with the hope that the services run more smoothly be more engaging and helpful.
In the last quarter this year we are going to trial:
We are hoping these small tweaks will help our service engagement and provide space for us to respond to what the Spirit is doing. As the trial goes on we would like to know what you think. Feel free to let an elder or staff know at the end of year after the trial.
Neil McIntosh recently attending the Assembly of Confessing Congregations (ACC) National Conference and have given a brief report as follows:
The ACC 2022 National Conference ran from the 9th to the 11th of September 2022, at Alex Park Conference Centre, Alexandra Headlands, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
This conference looked at what it means to move forward together in sole loyalty to Jesus Christ the living head of the Church.
About a third attended by Zoom, as did I because of the uncertainties of Airports and air travel (and the Covid 19 still lurks, esp. at airports!) The subject was “In Christ Alone” and they sang that hymn several times. The main speaker was Bishop Richard Condie, the Bishop of Tasmania and President of GAFCON (ie the evangelical Anglicans!) Of interest is that now 75% of Anglicans are in GAFCON! He was strong and word-based, and has the same theological understanding as Coro.
In speaking about current events and the sad death of the Queen, one of the leaders recounted comments by the Queen that were passed on to him. Early in her reign she said “Throughout my life, the message and teachings of Christ have been my guide, and in them I find hope”. That sentence sounds to me like the words of someone with a deep and personal faith!
